Wednesday, June 24: 4:00 – 8:00pm
The organizers of HOPOS 2026 welcome you to Columbus' Historic German Village and Scioto Audubon Park for our conference outing. The area has something for everyone, including walking and scenery, history, shopping, and food/drink. The outing has no set itinerary, meaning you are free to explore the attractions in the area that most interest you or your group. Our recommendations are below, along with a map of the area.
Shuttle Service:
Shuttles will depart from the Ohio Union after the conference activities on Wednesday. Shuttles will stop in two locations: Central German Village (#1 on the map) and the Scioto Audubon Park (#2 on the map). A continuous shuttle will run between #1 and #2 throughout the outing. The shuttles will then return to the Ohio Union at the end of the outing.
Shuttle Schedule:
Buses will depart promptly at scheduled times. Please ensure you are at the bus stop location before the departure time in order to not miss the shuttle.

Belongings:
You have three options for personal belongings on the day of the outing.
a. The safest option is to bring them to the Founders Room (#12 on the map above) in the Ohio Union before the outing. You can pick them up immediately after the outing on Wednesday evening, or Thursday during the conference. The room will be locked or attended at all times.
b. Bring them and leave them on the bus, and retrieve them when you ride the bus back in the evening. We cannot guarantee the safety of items left on the buses. While both buses will be attended at all times, one bus will be used as a shuttle throughout the evening. It is not recommended to leave items on this bus.
c. Carry them yourself throughout the outing. Warning: Columbus is typically quite warm in June, so if you plan to do any walking, carrying your personal items might become uncomfortable.
See the Outing Map (below) for more details.
